Ricard Keys slams Mauricio Pochettino and Chelsea for their inconsistent performances this season

Richard Keys hasn’t been convinced by Chelsea’s performance this season and has compared Mauricio Pochettino’s management to Graham Potter.

The Blues are 10th in the Premier League, and their latest game came against Manchester City, where they held to a 1-1 draw. One can say that there has been inconsistency in the performance, but the improvement is there.

When you have a young squad, you cannot expect them to eke out a positive outcome in every game, and on top of that, this is the first season of Pochettino, who has already taken them to the Carabao Cup final.

But in the league, we haven’t been convincing, which is reasonable. As a team, we are making strides, and our game against City was another testament to our great performance.

However, commentator Keys has lambasted this Chelsea side and doesn’t understand the signing young players theory. He further made his opinion known on beIN Sports, (h/t Football. London), and said:

“If Villa had been at their best, I think the outcome would have been very different.” I don’t buy that they are young players. These guys are not 18-year-old players. These are players that have cost hundreds of millions, running into billions, and they are nowhere near good enough.”

We don’t understand why someone would say, ‘Had Villa been at their best’, were they not at their best when they faced us? This is such a poor comment on their performance. They have been impressive, but they couldn’t win against us because we were better than them in every department.

Mauricio Pochettino Chelsea are 10th in the league.

And when we talk about Chelsea’s young squad, you have to look from every angle. It’s not about the game; it’s about performance because these players haven’t been playing in the Premier League for years and will settle in quickly.

We have spent massively on some of their signings, and somewhere it’s our fault too because we haven’t done sensible business, and instead of walking out of the signing, we ended up spending hefty amounts of money, which we need to avoid starting next summer.
