Manchester City stars Jack Grealish and Bernardo Silva are doubtful to face Chelsea on Saturday

Manchester City could be without two of their star players Jack Grealish and Bernardo Silva ahead of their Premier League clash against Chelsea on Saturday evening.

The England international started the game in their Champions League encounter against FC Copenhagen, and 21 minutes into the game, he hobbled off. While the injury might not be serious, the game at the weekend will have come a tad too early.

Things got worse when Silva also picked up a fresh knock, despite the Premier League giants securing a 3-1 victory over Copenhagen in the first leg of their Champions League last-16 tie. With important games to come, it remains to be seen of Pep Guardiola will risk two of his top stars.

The Blues, who are not in the Champions League, will have plenty of time to recover after their 3-1 win over Crystal Palace and should be well prepared to face City. Slowly yet surely, we are adding steel to a side that is yet finding it’s way.

The last time we saw an enthralling game between two sides was when they met at Stamford Bridge and the game ended in a 4-4 draw. Speaking about his injured stars, here is what Guardiola had to say to the BBC (h/t Metro).

‘’Bernardo [Silva] has a big knock. It looks like a muscular injury for Jack Grealish. It is a pity. He helped us play at the right tempo. He felt it when he rolled on the grass. They know.’’

Silva and Grealish’s unavailability could give Guardiola a headache vs Chelsea

Silva and Grealish have been key players for Guardiola this season. Silva has featured in almost every game, while the England international has been an impactful substitute for the Spanish manager.

But City have great depth in their team, and in Grealish’s absence, Guardiola has Jeremy Doku, while for Silva, they have Phil Foden and Kevin De Bruyne, and even Erling Haaland has returned from an injury.

Chelsea have bounced back from their defeats to Liverpool and Wolves and won back-to-back games with convincing scorelines. Hopefully, they will pose a challenge for the Guardiola side. Pochettino knows who to stop, and he has done it on one of the biggest stages, the Champions League and many times in the Premier League.
