Chelsea identify their own Martin Odegaard in Sverre Nypan

According to HITC, (h/t Football. London) Chelsea seem to have scouted another top-rated young player in Sverre Nypan, who is labelled as the brightest young talent in Norway. The teenager made his debut at the age of 15 and signed a new deal with Rosenborg.

Rosenborg extended his deal until 2026 to make a profit from his departure after the midfielder attracted interest from 11 clubs around Europe. The midfield player has performed admirably this season, and his age hasn’t really hampered his performance. In three Europa League qualifying games, the 17-year-old has three assists.

The young playmaker has been compared to Arsenal midfielder Martin Odegaard, who joined Real Madrid at the age of 16. However, his evolution at Real didn’t go as smoothly as he expected, but since joining Arsenal, Odegaard has become an indispensable figure under Mikel Arteta.

However, Chelsea face big competition for the signing of Nypan many Premier League clubs such as Manchester United, Manchester City, Aston Villa, Brighton, Brentford and Nottingham Forest are ready to acquire his services.

Right now Chelsea doesn’t necessarily have to sign him, his talent is undeniable and he certainly has all the elements to become a future star but he is too young and it will be better for him to mature in a less intense environment.

Sverre Nypan next Martin Odegaard?

Signing young players recklessly will make it difficult to manage them, and it will eventually impede their progress at the club, which will result in them being sold.

But Nypan has stood out with his performance at the Norwegian club, and his 26 appearances last season saw him get a new contract, which indicates the player has been highly valued at the club.

And being a central midfielder, Nypan has shown great maturity, but there are still some elements he needs to polish, like his decision-making and final third-pass shooting and finishing skills. But at 17 he has already attracted interest from many clubs, and with time he will eventually refine his weaknesses.
