Chelsea are keen to strengthen several departments next summer

Mauricio Pochettino’s Chelsea side wants to get on board an attacker, a midfielder and a defender over the upcoming summer transfer window. A number of these issues can see themselves stalled without Chelsea spending an additional pound.

Football London says the Blues are looking to sign a striker, midfielder and defender soon. The good thing about transfers when it comes to Chelsea is the fact that we have a country full of players out on loan and we can surely scout among them who might fit our requirements better than suppose, a player for whom Chelsea might have to venture the market.

Winger duo Alex Matos and Omari Hutchinson were both on the score sheet in Championship action on Saturday. The former, who plays out on loan at Huddersfield Town netted in the eight-goal thriller between his temporary side and Southampton in the English second tier. Hutchinson on the other hand, scored a last-minute equaliser to secure a point for his Ipswich Town side against West Bromwich Albion.

What next for the Blues?

Our current wingers including Mykhailo Mudryk, Raheem Sterling and Noni Madueke have not played the part the management would have envisioned them to. Cole Palmer, on the other hand, has been contributing pretty well. Let’s see how things proceed for the Blues on that front, but we cannot run away from the truth of our underperforming frontline.

Now, talking about our midfield, this has been probably, the most disappointing part of our season so far. Bringing in so many players over the summer, and nobody has yet lived up to half the expectations. It is really heartbreaking, to say the least. However, the core of the team is young and there is a sense of belief that the midfield will start ticking sooner than later.

Our defence has been shaky. Too many injury issues. We need players who are prone to injury in each of our defensive positions. Moreover, it is time we started thinking about life beyond Thiago Silva whose ageing has clearly had an impact on his performances in recent weeks.

Chelsea need to find a long-term replacement for Thiago Silva.
