Mauricio Pochettino deliver cryptic response to media after being asked about Chelsea January plans

When asked about Chelsea’s January transfer intentions, manager Mauricio Pochettino gave an innocuous response, stating that he isn’t aware of Blues’ winter transfer window plans.

But, given the abundance of rumours around the Blues, it will be complicated to predict whether or not we will sign during the current transfer window as it seems we don’t have enough expenditure to spend.

Our primary goal is to turn a profit, so we’ve listed academy players who can help the team generate income, such as Armando Broja and Conor Gallagher, for sale. Then, and only subsequently, can we evaluate making dealings.

Mauricio Pochettino says there is not update on Chelsea’s January transfer plans

However, the January transfer window is almost over, so the Blues may make a last-minute addition. But as he informed the reporters, Pochettino is unsure if the team will sign any players as of yet, (h/t Football. London), and he further said:

“No update because I think in the same way when you ask me if players can leave, there is no news about players that can come in.”

We haven’t learned anything about Chelsea finalising a deal thus far because we need to be smart and not overpay for a player this time. But since these things usually happen behind the scenes, even if the Argentine knows who we will sign, he wouldn’t provide the details.

Even if we don’t make any signings, it will be understandable given the amount we spent during the last three transfer windows—roughly £1 billion—which indicates that we should exercise caution when making purchases in the future because if we exceed the Premier League Financial Fair Play cap, we can face some serious sanctions.

But for the summer window, we will have to make some signings if we sell our academy players because some areas need to be reinforced, such as No. 9 and defence.
