Chelsea backs Mauricio Pochettino’s vision despite defeat to Middlesbrough

Every time Chelsea loses a game, there is a rumour that Mauricio Pochettino could be sacked, but the Blues board continues to back the manager despite the bumpy start to the new campaign.

The Telegraph says, (h/t Express) Chelsea remains clear with their message and will continue to the Argentine manager despite a 1-0 defeat to Middlesbrough in the Carabao Cup first leg.

People need to understand that this is his new season and he has a very young squad that will take some campaigning to become a competitive side, and the fault is never down to the manager but the board.

Our recruitment planning has been poor because if you are only going to sign young players, then you should have enough patience to give them a few years to become an elite side.

However, our fans don’t have that much patience to wait for years for this side to become a top team because they want to see an instant result. There have been positive improvements, but there will be more losses than wins because we are in the redevelopment phase.

Sacking a manager won’t solve the problem because, when we break it down, the main issue is with our hiring process. Pochettino has pointed out many times during his press conference that whenever he loses, he claims the club lacks experienced players.

Maybe our new board doesn’t have enough experience with football, which could be the reason for our recruitment process. If we are to sign some good players, then we will need a seasoned sporting director, maybe in the mould of Ralf Rangnick.

We have an obvious lack of quality in attack, and we aren’t consistent enough to win every game. We face a midtable team and lose, and then there is a call to sack the manager. Besides that, half of our players are injured, which has forced Pochettino’s to use a different approach every time and use players in unnatural positions.
