Chelsea and Liverpool Carabao Cup match timing to set to be changed after fears of fans clashes

According to Daily Mail, Chelsea and Liverpool Carabao Cup game is set to be pushed ahead of their original timing after fears of clashes between the Blues and Reds fans.

The EFL Cup was supposed to be played on February 25th at 4:30 p.m., but the Metropolitan Police have asked the FA to start the game much earlier as they believe there could be a high-risk fixture.

Earlier today, the Met put forward their request that there should be no final kick-offs at 3 p.m. on public order grounds. However, EFL usually starts the game around 4:30 p.m. considering their contract with Sky Sports, but now it seems they are set to meet the UK Met decision.

More talks will take place in the next few days to discuss the issue, as the police want to take as much precaution as they can to avoid any agitations between the fans.

The same thing happened last campaign when the FA changed the time from 3 p.m. kick-off to 5:30 p.m. after police advice due to fears of day drinking and sparking violence between Manchester United and Manchester City fans.

To be honest, it’s a wise move because we need to maintain the peace among the fans and prevent confrontations from breaking out because we are aware of how some die-hard supporters can instigate altercations and walk into the streets.

When their team scores goals in football, it’s evident that the opposing fan will make a mockery of them, which could result in a brawl. As a result, the police will exercise all safety measures to stop fights from breaking out in the pub or on the streets.

In addition to making police work less stressful, the proposal sounds more effective because it eliminates the possibility of fan confrontations, which occasionally escalate into fights because the fans will ultimately suffer and be wounded.
