Mauricio Pochettino has been patient with Chelsea star Mykhaylo Mudryk since taking over at Stamford Bridge and it would appear that it is now bearing fruit.
The winger broke his goal drought for the Blues before the international break and now cannot stop finding the back of the net. He scored for Ukraine midweek before scoring a sensational lob over David Raya against Arsenal last night.
Mudryk still has much work to do but scoring goals consistently will certainly boost his confidence. With the Blues slowly starting to come together under Pochettino, it is imperative that their big-money signings pull their weight.
While Pochettino is certainly impressed, he is not keen for Mudryk to rest on his laurels. In fact, the Argentinian feels that the winger can still improve and is currently far from his best. According to football.london, the carrot and stick approach appears to be in full swing at Stamford Bridge.
“He played good, he still needs to improve, he is still not for me at his best.”
Mudryk looks a far better player than he has ever looked at Chelsea and appears to be finding a goalscoring rhythm. A good run of results will certainly aid his cause and help him gain momentum heading into the busy spells of the season. Mudryk showed at Shakhtar Donetsk that he can be a world-class player and it is time he made good on that promise.
At 22, Mudryk is still young and has the best years of his career ahead of him. Pochewttino has a track record of improving young players and the Ukrainian will certainly enjoy working under the new Chelsea boss. He is finally justifying the hype surrounding his arrival at the Bridge. The onus is now on the player to ensure consistency is achieved.
It was under Pochettino that Harry Kane and Dele Alli developed into game-winning superstars. The Argentine does not appear to have lost that Midas touch and time will tell whether Mudryk too will join the line of greats mentored by the 51-year-old South American.
