Albanian Football Association confirm that Armando Broja could be on the Chelsea bench vs Bournemouth

The Albanian Football Association has revealed that Armando Broja could be on the bench for Chelsea in their next game against Bournemouth on September 17. This will be welcome news for Blues fans as the forward has been out of action for months.

The striker will return after long spells on the sidelines due to a season-ending injury he picked up last season in December in a friendly game against Aston Villa. Given our struggles in front of the goal, one could argue that his ability in the box was sorely missed.

Broja recently returned to light training during the summer and has now been deemed fit for Chelsea’s next game. Mauricio Pochettino also warned that he doesn’t want to rush the striker and allow him to recover entirely, as he has been labelled as one of the most important players for the club.

Now the Blues will finally see their academy player in action after the Albanian Football Association revealed the striker will be on the bench. (h/t Metro) Armando Duka told Euronews:

‘‘ready to return. Broja has completed the recovery phase. following Albania’s victory over Poland on Sunday. We expect him to be on the bench with Chelsea this week, that is, ready to return to the field. He should normally be back in October for the Czech Republic game.”

The quicker he returns, the more options Pochettino has to deploy upfront. In fact, it should also keep Nicolas Jackson on his heels. Competition augurs well for a strong squad keen to win major trophies for years to come.

The team will benefit immensely from Broja’s comeback since his absence will add to the squad’s depth given the forward’s extended layoff. He would have been a consistent starter last season if he had stayed fit when Chelsea were having trouble scoring goals. However, he will now try to position himself as the preferable option through his performance under Pochettino.

He may or may not play against Bournemouth, but Pochettino wants the 22-year-old to get fully healthy before making a decision. Since he will be available for both his national team and them, his return will also be welcome news for them.
