Mauricio Pochettino has urged Chelsea to sign offensive player and a goalkeeper

Mauricio Pochettino has demanded that Chelsea sign a goalkeeper and an offensive player following the club’s first win of the season against Luton Town.

The Blues secured a comfortable 3-0 win over Luton Town after a brace from Raheem Sterling and a solitary goal from Nicolas Jackson to secure three points as they climbed to eighth place in the Premier League table.

Sterling was the hero of the match as he posed the majority of the danger to the opposition and deservingly got his two goals as well, while Jackson finally netted his first goal for the club. However, Chelsea’s boss feels he still needs an offensive player despite the Blues dominant display against Luton.

Following the game, the Argentine manager confirmed Chelsea are still on the market and he could do with a goalkeeper and an attacking player, (h/t Metro) as he said:

‘’Like last week, when we lose the game, it [transfer plans] is not going to change. We work, the result today was positive, and still we are talking. We’d like a keeper and an offensive player with the right profile. We are working to find this profile that I think we need.”

‘’We cannot change if we lose or win; it’s what we need to provide the team with good balance. Still, we need one offensive player more if it is possible to achieve what we want.”

Given that we have two centre-forwards, Pochettino may require another attacking player who can also play as an architect and create chances. The Blues’ need for a creator is evident in light of Christopher Nkunku’s injury, which will keep him out for several months.

It appears that we aren’t in need of a goalie since we are close to signing Djordje Petrovic from New England Revolution in the MLS, but perhaps he was the signing between the sticks that Poch was referring to.

As for the offensive player, it remains to be seen what route the Blues go down on. We have signed a number of young players who are unproven at the biggest level, albeit with huge ceilings. This time, it will make sense to splurge the cash on a proven player who can slot straight into the XI without fuss.
