Mauricio Pochettino feels Nicolas Jackson has the tools to become a top star at Chelsea

Mauricio Pochettino has backed Nicolas Jackson to become one of the best strikers in the Premier League after the former Villarreal forward finally opened his Chelsea account in the club’s 3-1 win over Luton Town.

Raheem Sterling’s brilliant cross allowed the 22-year-old to slide the ball into the goal, capping a fantastic start to his stint in England. The Senegalese ace will look to make the first XI spot for himself after completing the £32 million from Villarreal.

His performance certainly impressed Pochettino, who feels Jackson has the characteristics to become one of the Premier League’s best strikers. The youngster was lively throughout the entire game and created plenty of chances. If he finds a semblance of consistency, we will have a top player on our hands.

After the game, Pochettino commented on Jackson’s performance and said it’s only a matter of time before he finds his rhythm. (h/t Daily Mail), He claimed:

”We knew Nicolas Jackson’s quality when we signed him; we saw that before. It is not that we ask him to run and press the ball; he is quality in the way he recovers the ball, but he can also finish.”

”It is only a matter of time; once he settles into the Premier League, he will show it more. Nicolas Jackson has top quality. I have no doubt that he can become one of the greatest strikers in the Premier League.”

Jackson is young and moving to a new league will not be easy. He has shown us sparks of his undoubted potential and will only get better with time. Fans need to be patient and allow the youngster to come into his own as a Blue.

When a manager like Pochettino, who assisted Harry Kane in becoming one of the best strikers in the English top-flight league, says you are going to become one of the greatest strikers in the league, you undoubtedly have much potential. Jackson appears to be a top find and we have a real talent on our hands.

He is our present and future striker. Despite scoring his first goal, we need to be patient with him. He’s playing in a completely new league, and scoring his first goal doesn’t mean he’s gotten used to it. As long as we give him breathing space and stay patient, the results should come.
