Crystal Palace boss unsure of Michael Olise future amidst Chelsea interest

Roy Hodgson, the manager of Premier League rivals Crystal Palace, is unsure about the future of Michael Olise amidst interest from Chelsea.

The Blues are one of the teams in the English top flight looking to acquire the attacker’s services in the ongoing transfer window. Manchester City are also in the race to get a hold of his signature.

Speaking to Sky Sports via transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, Hodgson is not privy to what other clubs are doing in order to sign the French national. However, the 75-year-old hopes that the 21-year-old will stay at the Selhurst Park side.

“No one knows at this moment. If there are clubs desperately/seriously preparing a bid and tempting him then he’ll decide. I can only wait and see what decision is he will make, he knows we want to keep him.”

Palace signed Olise in the summer of 2021 from Reading. The attacker made his way through the youth ranks at the Stamford Bridge side, Manchester City and the Berkshire-based club.

After establishing himself at the Championship outfit, the Eagles came calling for the forward’s services. Initially, the youngster was mostly used as a substitute at the Selhurst Park side but quickly managed to make a place for himself in the starting lineup.

In the previous campaign, the French national was a key player for Palace. He made 40 appearances in all competitions for the London-based club, scoring two goals and providing 11 assists.

Olise mostly plays on the right wing. At Chelsea, the position has seen the likes of Kai Havertz and Christian Pulisic feature there. However, they have both left the club this summer.

As things stand, we have the likes of Noni Madueke and Raheem Sterling in our ranks, who can play out wide. Therefore, the French national will have a lot of competition at the West London club.

Olise has showcased a lot of potential over the last few years. However, game time will evidently not be a guarantee at Chelsea. Therefore, will the forward want to join the Stamford Bridge side? Only time will tell.
