Chelsea keen to make progress in their pursuit of Michael Olise

As per The Guardian, (h/t Sky Sports), Chelsea have stepped up their interest in securing the services of Michael Olise, who has agreed personal terms to join the West Londoners amid interest from Manchester City.

Following the injury to Christopher Nkunku, the Blues are hoping to add more depth to their attacking line and are now closing in on a move for their former academy player. Olise is likely to leave Crystal Palace in the summer window after impressing at Selhurst Park last season. He recorded 11 assists and two goals in 37 games in the Premier League in 2022/23.

City have also shown interest as they find a replacement for Riyad Mahrez. But the 21-year-old is seduced by Chelsea’s project and is leaning towards a move to the Blues, making us the frontrunners to sign the forward.

The Blues are stepping up their interest as they hope to wrap up the deal to avoid any late bids from rival clubs. The Crystal Palace winger has a £35 million release clause, a snip in today’s market. Olise certainly is a player on the rise and it is in our best interests to land him.

The West Londoners also tabled a €30 million (£25.9 million) bid for the winger, and now it remains to be seen how Palace respond. The Blues will also start their new Premier League campaign on Sunday when they face Liverpool at Stamford Bridge.

We need to move quickly if we want to complete his deal as soon as possible because we can’t wait for another club to swoop in. Liverpool have made life difficult for us in the pursuit of Moises Caicedo and a repeat of the same would be an unnecessary complication.

The youngster has already agreed to personal terms to join, and all that is left to do is make a strong offer to seal the deal. This will provide us with additional depth on the right flank as well as in midfield as Olise is a versatile player who can don several hats.
