Chelsea are known for their activities in the transfer market, with their last two transfer windows proving nothing but a disappointment. Chelsea had more than they could chew last season, having had the largest squad of any Premier League team. With all those players, they only managed to finish 12th in the league.

Mauricio Pochettino is at the helm now, and the former Tottenham and PSG manager is doing all he can to restore the club’s glory days. So far, Chelsea have parted ways with eleven players, including N’golo Kante and club legend Cesar Azpilicueta. Edouard Mendy, Koulibaly, Pulisic, and Loftus-Cheek have also been shown the door.

Chelsea are in the middle of a rebuild, and the sooner Pochettino can have the players he wants in his squad available, the better for the club heading into the new season. With an approach to begin a stronger season through rebuilding, it will not only result in UCL qualifying, but it will also foster fan enthusiasm on online casino.

Chelsea register interest in Marco Verratti

Marco Verratti worked with Mauricio Pochettino at PSG, winning three trophies together. The Italian played some of his best football under Pochettino, who trusted him with enough game time at the French club. According to reports, Chelsea are looking to bring Verratti to Stamford Bridge this summer to reunite the Italian with his former coach.

Pochettino is a big fan of Marco Verratti, with the Argentine once calling PSG maestro ‘a truly great player’, and although the pair’s time at PSG was a short one, they could reunite at Chelsea to bring success back to the London club. The deal won’t come cheap for Chelsea, though.

PSG value Marco Verratti at over $80 million, and with the 30-year-old currently earning £238,000 a week at PSG, Chelsea are in for a long ride in negotiations as he’s likely to demand more to move to England.

Liverpool also interested in Verratti

Chelsea are not the only English club interested in signing Marco Verratti this summer. Jurgen Klopp is also a long-time admirer of the Italian, and with a weak midfield heading into the new season, Liverpool may be forced to lure Verratti to Anfield before the end of the transfer window.

Liverpool have lost James Milner, Oxlade-Chamberlain, and reports have claimed that Jordan Henderson and Fabinho are also on their way to Saudi Arabia. This leaves Liverpool with a very thin midfield despite signing Alexis Mac Allister and Dominik Szoboszlai last month.

Whoever wins the battle to sign Marco Verratti will have one of the best midfielders in the last decade in their books. The Italian has been with PSG since July 2012 and may relish a new challenge, especially in the Premier League.

Should Verratti choose Chelsea over Liverpool?
