Tottenham Hotspur have reached  personal agreement to sign Chelsea target David Raya from Brentford

Tottenham Hotspur have reached personal agreement with Brentford’s David Raya, (h/t Metro) amidst interest from Chelsea and Manchester United.

The Spanish goalkeeper has one year left on his contract and has shown no signs of extending it, with Premier League clubs already waiting to pounce on him.

Brentford head coach Thomas Frank revealed his asking price, which is around £40 million, and Raya has already made his feelings clear that he wants to play in European competition.

Despite agreeing on personal terms with the former Blackburn goalie, Spurs have yet to start talks over his signing with the Bees.

Chelsea are also interested in signing Raya, as the Blues don’t seem to trust Kepa Arrizabalaga, who hasn’t been consistent with his performance. Meanwhile, Edouard Mendy is leaning towards a move away from Stamford Bridge.

Manchester United are looking to replace David De Gea, who seems to have become error-prone in big games, and Erik Ten Hag could do with an upgrade at Old Trafford.

Raya has been sensational this season for the Bees, and his performance has attracted top clubs. His addition to any club could change the dynamic as he is a terrific ball-playing goalkeeper.

Chelsea are also interested in signing Inter Milan shot-stopper Andre Onana. The Inter Milan goalkeeper, 27, helped his team reach the UEFA Champions League final and was also impressive against Manchester City despite the 1-0 loss at the Ataturk Stadium on June 10.

As for Raya, Spurs have only reached a personal agreement, and there haven’t been any talks with the Bees over his signing. The door is still open for Chelsea to swoop and please Brentford by offering a fee close to their valuation of the player.

More Chelsea News:

Raya’s acquisition by Chelsea would be fantastic. He has been exceptional for Brentford, making the most saves this season. The Spaniard is also exceptional with the ball at his feet, and it could give us a much-needed new outlet under Mauricio Pochettino, where we can play a style focused on building out from the back.

Onana won’t be a bad shout in that regard as well. It seems the Blues have options when it comes to bringing in a new goalkeeper. But both Kepa and Mendy are above average. So if Poch really wants an upgrade, he will have to sign a goalie who is truly exceptional.
