Lazio are interested in signing Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi during the summer window

As per Italian outlet Corriere dello Sport (h/t Football.London), Lazio have joined the race to sign Chelsea winger Callum Hudson-Odoi during the summer transfer window.

The report states that the Chelsea Academy product is most likely to leave the club following an unsuccessful loan spell at Bundesliga club Bayer Leverkusen.

Premier League sides Crystal Palace and Nottingham Forest are also interested in signing the 22-year-old who only played 1074 minutes during his loan spell at Leverkusen, scoring one and assisting one goal (Transfermarkt).

Hudson-Odoi’s contract at Stamford Bridge expires next year, so we can understand why the club want to get rid of him now rather than letting him leave for free next summer.

Apart from a couple of promising spells as a Chelsea player, the 22-year-old never got going. The idea of sending him out on loan did not work either and it seems that his days in SW6 is numbered.

Moreover, the Blues have plenty of options in the positions he likes to play. The likes of Mykhaylo Mudryk and Raheem Sterling along with others can challenge for the left wing spot in the team.

With no European football money for this summer, Chelsea could do well by selling as many players as possible to earn some cash that can be used to buy important players in the market.

They are in the race to sign Moises Caicedo to bolster the midfield department, while there is an expectation that Real Madrid will compete with them for Inter Milan striker Lautaro Martinez.

More Chelsea News:

Let’s hope Mauricio Pochettino and Co. have the plans in place to make the correct additions to the squad. After a year of unnecessarily overzealous recruitment, Chelsea cannot afford to have another bad transfer window. Seeing Hudson-Odoi leave would perhaps be a decision not many fans will mind.
