Christopher Nkunku is eager to make an impact at Chelsea

Chelsea have confirmed the £52 million signing of Christopher Nkunku from RB Leipzig. The Frenchman will officially become a Blues player on July 1 and has signed a six-year contract.

Chelsea, who paid €60m release clause for the 25-year-old in October, were very keen to land the Frenchman. Nkunku enjoyed a great season with Leipzig, where he won the Bundesliga Golden Boot after scoring 16 goals and providing six assists in 25 games.

The former Paris Saint-Germain player is a versatile player who can operate as a striker and as a number 10. After Chelsea confirmed his signing, (h/t Sky Sports) Nkunku gave his verdict on joining the Blues and said:

“I am incredibly happy to be joining Chelsea. A big effort was made to bring me to the club, and I am looking forward to meeting my new coach and team-mates and showing the Chelsea supporters what I can do on the pitch.”

“Having played in Ligue 1 and the Bundesliga, I now want to play in the Premier League, one of the strongest leagues in the world. I am very excited for this challenge and will be proud to wear the Chelsea shirt.”

Nkunku is one of the best players to have come out of France in recent times. After struggling at PSG, where he played in Kylian Mbappe and Neymar’s shadow, he moved to RB Leipzig in Germany.

He was given consistent playing time there and gradually moved up the ladder to become their best player. There, he improved his technique, which led elite clubs to keep an eye on him.

Under several coaches, his versatility allowed him to play both as a striker and as the number 10. As a result, he developed into a complete attacker who could both create opportunities and score goals.
