Young Chelsea midfielder Cesare Casadei wanted on loan by Aston Villa and Brighton

As per Football.London, Brighton and Hove Albion and Aston Villa are among the clubs interested in signing young Chelsea midfielder Cesare Casadei on loan in this summer window.

The Italian has been in great form during the ongoing U20 World Cup in Argentina. He has scored seven goals and assisted two in six appearances in the competition so far, all while playing in central midfield. The final against Uruguay awaits.

Casadei was signed by Chelsea from the Inter Milan youth setup last summer for a fee of around £12m plus the add-ons. He went on loan to Reading for the second half of the 2022/23 season and did well there.

After a good spell in the Championship and an excellent U20 World Cup, it is understandable clubs like Villa and Brighton are interested in him. To be fair, those two clubs will be playing in Europe next season while Chelsea do not have that luxury.

Knowing how good a manager Mauricio Pochettino is for developing top young players and converting them into world-beaters, it might be tempting for Chelsea to keep Casadei and ask him to do well in the pre-season with the senior squad.

The Blues are losing key and experienced midfielders this summer anyway. N’Golo Kante is off to Al Ittihad, while Mateo Kovacic has agreed on terms with Manchester City and Ruben Loftus-Cheek is close to an AC Milan move.

Although Chelsea might look to bolster that department with signings in the transfer window, it is important to give a young player like Casadei a chance to shine, especially after what he is doing in Argentina.

More Chelsea News:

As mentioned above, Pochettino is the type of manager who may like to work with the 20-year-old and offer him enough chances to do well in the senior team.
