“Wants to stay”- Serie A honcho admits they are keen to retain Chelsea loanee’s services

Giuseppe Marotta claims Chelsea loanee Romelu Lukaku is happy at Inter Milan

Giuseppe Marotta has revealed that Chelsea loanee Romelu Lukaku is content at Inter Milan and wants to stay despite the fact that his spell will finish at the end of the season.

Yje Belgian is currently on loan at Inter, and it is unclear whether Chelsea sees a future for him at the club. Despite Mauricio Pochettino’s intention to rekindle the striker’s career, it remains to be seen if the club sees him eye to eye on this.

Following his comeback from injury, the 29-year-old has recaptured his form, scoring four goals in Inter’s last five games in all competitions. This puts them in good stead heading into the Coppa Italia and UEFA Champions League finals.

Despite, discovering his good form, Lukaku’s future is up in the air. He has looked more at home at the Giuseppe Meazza rather than he has ever done so at Stamford Bridge over two different spells.

Inter-CEO Marotta said the exact same thing on Radio 1, and his words were cited by transfer journalist Fabrizio Romano on Twitter. He confirms that the Belgian is keen to stay put in Serie A.

“Lukaku loves Inter; he wants to stay with us. He feels very good here”. Negotiations with Chelsea? He’s on loan until June 30, and then we still don’t know Chelsea’s plans. We’re waiting for that.

It makes no sense to bring in a player who intends to stay at his current club and likes to play for them. Hopefully, we can recoup a decent amount from Inter, which can then be reinvested back into the squad.

Pochettino might choose to include him in his plans, but if the player is unhappy playing for us, he is unlikely to perform efficiently.

So, it would be a sensible decision to sign a new and young striker and put an end to the drama of bringing the former Manchester United striker back to Stamford Bridge. Lukaku is excellent on his day but he has struggled to showcase it on a regular basis in blue.
