“Troubled waters’- Julian Nagelsmann’s agent reveals why he rejected Chelsea

Volker Struth backs Julian Nagelsmann decision to pass on Chelsea managerial role

Volker Struth, the agent of former Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann believes Chelsea are in big trouble and has backed the German’s decision to pass on the managerial job.

The Blues were in the market for a permanent manager with Nagelsmann among the front-runners to take over at Stamford Bridge. However, negotiations led nowhere and both sides moved on.

The Blues and Mauricio Pochettino have now reached an agreement, and an announcement appears imminent. The former Tottenham Hotspur manager is clearly an exciting appointment.

Nagelsmann’s agent has now revealed that Nagelsmann was right to reject a move to Chelsea given their current situation. Ther Blues have a skilled but bloated roster that at this moment in time lacks organisation and vision.

Speaking to Bild’s podcast Phrasenmaher, (h/t Metro) Volker opened up about why Nagelsmann was rejected by Chelsea and said:

‘‘I can confirm that Chelsea was quick to call; there were some phone conversations. ‘ It was the right decision [from Nagelsmann] not to go there. It’s a club in troubled waters at the moment.”

‘’And their transfer policy, spending a few hundred million euros, has raised expectations that need to be met. There were also some other issues. He was their number one; that was our information. I believe it would have happened if he had wanted it.’’

Even if our current situation may not be ideal, since it takes a lot of courage to rebuild a major club like Chelsea. Nagelsmann would have had the tools to make a difference and him backing out of a challenge is not a good look.

And despite our reckless expenditure, we have acquired quality players who, under the guidance of the right manager, will undoubtedly fulfill their potential. To be honest, Nagelsmann doesn’t-appear like a manager who can handle a lot of pressure, considering what transpired at Bayern.
