Joao Felix seeking Premier League stay even if it is not at Chelsea

Joao Felix wants to stay in the Premier League but not necessarily at Chelsea. His loan spell at Stamford Bridge will come to an end at the conclusion of the season.

Cope (h/t Daily Mail) claims that the former Benfica star wants to stay in the Premier League but may join one of Chelsea’s rivals next season. Although the Blues want to keep the forward, they are reluctant to pay his exorbitant price.

Negotiations for another loan period are ongoing, and Atletico Madrid may agree to another loan for Felix. Manchester United are one of the clubs interested in the Chelsea loanee. However, it is understood that the Portugal international will start his pre-season training with Atletico Madrid.

Mauricio Pochettino is likely to be appointed the Blues’ next manager and is keen to retain the attacker. Chelsea are currently 11th in the Premier League table and operating under interim manager Frank Lampard. They will next play Nottingham Forest on Saturday during lunchtime.

Meanwhile, since joining the club, Felix has scored three goals in 13 Premier League matches and has already played under three different managers: Graham Potter, Bruno Saltor, and now Frank Lampard.

Felix has been an inspired addition to the Blues roster and we should aim to keep him for another season. However, we cannot afford to pay him over the odds given our exposure to FFP thanks to the lack of UEFA Champions League football.

Another loan period for him seems reasonable, and he might be able to work on flaws under Pochettino, and if he convinces more, we can sign him on a permanent deal.

However, if we do not retain him for next season, it will not be a loss because we already have Christopher Nkunku on board, who operates from the same area.
