Frank Lampard rules injured Chelsea star out for the remainder of the season

Frank Lampard claims injured Chelsea star N’Golo Kante will miss the rest of the season

N’Golo Kante will miss the remaining Chelsea games owing to a groin injury sustained before the encounter against Nottingham Forest, according to interim manager Frank Lampard.

Kante recently made a full recovery from a hamstring injury following surgery, but it now appears that he will also miss the next three games. It will cap off yet another injury-hit campaign for arguably the side’s best midfielder.

The 32-year-old midfielder’s current contract is scheduled to expire at the end of the current campaign, and it is rumoured that an extension is imminent. Despite his injuries, he remains a key cog in the Blues setup.

Raheem Sterling scored twice in the 51st minute and 58th minute, respectively, for Chelsea, while Taiwo Awoniyi scored a brace for Nottingham Forest as both teams held to a 2-2 draw.

They will now play Manchester United, Manchester City, and Newcastle United in their final three matches of the Premier League season. However, (h/t Metro) Lampard revealed Kante’s injury news during the post-match press conference, as he said:

‘‘Kante’s unfit; he hurt his groyne in training yesterday. It’s going to be a two- or three-week injury. We lost N’Golo in training yesterday; he felt something in his groyne, so that’s probably a couple of weeks, and we know pretty much what that means.”

This season, Kante has had a stroke of bad luck with injuries, and his absence has also had an impact on our midfield. We must exercise caution when dealing with our players since it seems like they are forced into games without having had enough time to prepare physically. Ben Chilwell and Reece James are the other two players who are now out for the season.

Enzo Fernandez has not received help from other midfielders and needs a dependable defensive midfielder who will let him play higher up the pitch.

And with Kante’s injury, we will need to prioritize the purchase of a holding midfielder for the upcoming campaign. Despite the lavish outlay over the last two transfer windows, the Blues still remain a work in progress.
