Conor Gallagher reveals Frank Lampard message that Chelsea players fulfilled in Bournemouth win

Conor Gallagher happy after Chelsea pay heed to Frank Lampard ‘message’ in Bournemouth win

Chelsea are safe from relegation and Conor Gallagher, Benoit Badiashile and Joao Felix were all on target in a brilliant 3-1 away Premier League win against Bournemouth.

It felt like there was nothing left in the season and that every game would be pointless from here on. But the feeling in the away end and among fans watching across the globe after we finally got a win spoke volumes.

We need momentum badly going into the summer. Lack of goals has been a huge, huge problem. We just had 31 goals in 33 league games before we faced the Cherries.

Finally, we were clinical. That was the obvious message from Frank Lampard for the game against Bournemouth and Chelsea paid due attention to it.

Chelsea finally among the goals

Conor Gallagher, who scored just his third goal in his 41st appearance this appearance, told Premier League Productions after the game, via BBC:

“Hopefully we can move forward and take confidence from it. It felt much better, everyone seemed more confident and we controlled the game. It was a good team performance and we just need to carry it on now.

“The main message from the boss was that we needed to be more clinical and more ruthless in the final third. So to get three goals today was great and shows that the stuff we’re been working on has worked.”

Badiashile’s goal came in the 82nd minute and Felix’s strike came four minutes from time. We left it late but it was important for those two players to have these moments.

The Portugal international has been great for us but has lacked the finishing touch. If there was a situation where he stays at Chelsea next season, then he needs that confidence in front of goal to be a vital goal-scorer for us.

This was also Badiashile’s first start under Lampard and he would have felt relieved to get his big moment. He will hope to build on from here and fulfil the massive expectations placed on his shoulder.
