Chelsea will need to fork out £120m to land West Ham United star Declan Rice

West Ham United have accepted that they will have to sell Declan Rice in the summer transfer window due to interest from Chelsea and several other Premier League clubs.

As reported by Sky Sports, (h/t Metro), the Hammers want £120 million to let go of one of their finest players. Rice has to his credit taken them as far as he can and could now do with a new challenge.

David Moyes’s side are enduring a poor season and could still mathematically face relegation. Rice’s price might decrease if they are demoted. The win over Manchester United last time around does, however, give them renewed hope of staying up.

The 24-year-old Rice has become not only West Ham’s essential player over the past few years but also an important part of Gareth Southgate’s England team. He participated in the World Cup and European Championships, playing a key role in Gareth Southgate’s squad.

Rice is also open to moving to a prestigious team in order to play in the Champions League next year. Arsenal, who are vying for the Premier League’s crown, is the favorite to sign Rice. However, Manchester United, Liverpool, and his former team Chelsea are also interested in acquiring his services during the summer.

The Blues believe that their ex-youth player is the perfect candidate to fill the defensive midfielder’s post, despite spending a significant amount of money on youngsters this season. Ironically, we had the player who could have proved to be our salvation right under our noses.

We obviously need a holding midfielder for the upcoming campaign, and Rice is one of the players who can fill the position. However, with Liverpool, Man United, and Arsenal also interested, it will be tough to bring the player, as all of them have enjoyed better seasons than us.

His cost is obviously high, but if we are to outbid other clubs, we will need to offload a lot of insignificant players to make way for him and balance our wage bill. With no Champions League money coming in, Todd Boehl;y will have to sell before he can buy big names.

However, with a new manager coming in ahead of the following campaign, we will need to bring in players who fulfill his tactics. It makes more sense to confirm the managerial appointment before going big on any players.
