Chelsea are expected to wrap up their appointment of a new manager for next season, with Mauricio Pochettino the main favorite. And already transfer news has begun to spring up involving a young prodigy from Barcelona, enticing fans to engage on .

The Argentine manager, who previously managed Paris Saint Germain and Tottenham, has already begun making preparations for Chelsea’s next season. Even though the team brought in a large number of players during the winter transfer window, there have been severe problems at the club.

A lot of the players have not been performing as they should have, and added with the team’s poor position in the league has meant the club under pressure from fans must do something.

Chelsea Transfer News: Gavi to leave Barcelona?

SPORT has revealed that Pochettino has already planned to overhaul the huge squad with many players expected to leave. But some new players are also expected to arrive. Apparently one of the players the new manager wants is Gavi from Barcelona.

Barcelona, who are in a dire financial crisis, have not been able to register the midfielder’s new contract. Only a few months back, La Liga rejected his contract renewal as the club’s wage bill problem had not been solved. Currently, he is still playing through his old academy contract. The contract has a clause that allows him to leave for free this summer in case his contract is not renewed before July 1.

This news means trouble for Barcelona and hope for other clubs. The young midfielder has quickly become one of the world’s best young talents. He has been a constant starter in the Catalan team at just 18 years of age and has also featured for Spain in the 2022 World Cup. He won the Golden Boy Award in 2022 as a result.

While clubs like Bayern Munich and Paris Saint Germain are interested, Chelsea are also now in the race.

Mauricio Pochettino considers the young Spaniard a must for his Chelsea rebuild project. Another player that is also highly coveted by the manager is fellow countryman Alexis MacAllister.

Gavi though appears calm with the situation and is not expected to leave Barcelona anytime soon. Barcelona is prioritizing his new contract and the player trusts the club as well.

However, football has shown that it can be full of surprises. Only this summer would tell whether Chelsea can get their hands on the young midfielder.
