“Clearly be worried”- Frank Lampard confirms injury for Chelsea star in Bournemouth win

Ben Chilwell limped off in Chelsea’s 3-1 win vs Bournemouth

According to Frank Lampard Ben Chilwell may miss the entire season after suffering a hamstring injury in Chelsea’s 3-1 victory against Bournemouth.

As Chelsea’s interim manager, Lampard was finally able to end his humiliating run when his team returned for a convincing 3-1 victory over Bournemouth, who had previously been tied with Chelsea in the standings.

The 26-year-old Chilwell started the contest as the Blues eventually earned their well-deserved victory at Vitality Stadium, but the left-back injured himself when attempting to deliver a cross in the 74th minute.

The England international eventually had Cesar Azpilicueta replace him after making a signal to the bench and requesting to be taken off.

Chelsea will play against Nottingham Forest, Manchester City, Manchester United, and ultimately Newcastle in their final four games before their disappointing season comes to an end.

With Reece James, Marc Cucureall, and now Chilwell injured, Lampard won’t have regular starters on either side of fullback, which would present additional problems.

The former midfielder provided an update on Chilwell’s injury during the press conference following the game, (Evening Standard), and said:

“It was his hamstring. We don’t know whether it is serious. With a hamstring at this stage of the season, you’d clearly be worried [that he may miss] the remaining games.”

With Reece James, Marc Cucurella, and now Chilwell injured, Lampard wouldn’t have regular starters on either side of the defence, which would present additional problems.

This has been the case with us this season. We can’t even enjoy a win properly because one of our players seems to get injured every time we get the three points. The former Leicester City left-back, meanwhile, has been riddled with injuries. Hopefully, it doesn’t take its toll on his body in the long run.

Only Lewis Hall remains as a natural left-back after Cucurella’s uncertain availability, and the 18-year-old has already made his debut for the Blues and has played in five Premier League games. It remains to be seen if Hall gets his chances if both our first-team left-backs are out. There is nothing to lose this season – we better give some minutes to our rising stars to make the most of these games.
