Report: Chelsea’s stance on Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang amid Barcelona links

Transfer News: Chelsea will not terminate Barcelona target Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang’s deal

Chelsea signed Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang from Barcelona last summer after he spent just six months at Camp Nou since joining them from Arsenal.

The deal was done very late in the window and many saw it as a panic buy from the Blues to add an attacker to their squad. He has had a horrible showing at Chelsea since then, failing to score in all but one of his 15 league appearances.

The 33-year-old is clearly unfit to lead our line when it comes to his ability and consistency. He seems to be a player on the decline.

Amid this, Aubameyang has recently claimed that he wants to return to Barcelona. However, as per Fabrizio Romano. Barca will only consider buying the Gabon international as a free agent.

Auba to Barcelona?

Hence, for him to leave Stamford Bridge this summer, Chelsea will have to agree to terminate his contract. According to Spanish outlet SPORT, that won’t happen.

And that makes full sense. Chelsea have been hard done by Barcelona, who signed Marcos Alonso and Andreas Christensen for nothing last summer.

We seemed primed to sign Raphinha and Jules Kounde before they stepped in. It does not make any sense to help them out here, unless we get something in return. The only logical thing will be to listen to offers for Aubameyang. We are not here to do any team any undue favours.

That being said, we shouldn’t keep him here for next season, although his contract expires only in June 2024. It is better we clear out the deadwood and invest money in quality signings. Romelu Lukaku and Auba need to have their long-term futures sorted out. Once that is done, we must go in for a world-class forward who can guarantee goals.
