Xavi reveals Gavi is happy at Barcelona amidst Chelsea links

Xavi stated that Gavi is content at Barcelona and doesn’t see the need to join any other teams after the midfielder’s name was linked with a move to Chelsea.

Chelsea are in touch with Gavi’s agency, and it is believed that a meeting between the player’s representation and the club has already taken place.

Gavi agreed to a new, long-term deal with Barcelona that has a €1 billion (£883 million) release clause, but Barcelona’s effort to sign the midfielder was unsuccessful because La Liga claimed the team couldn’t pay the player’s €8 million (£7.1 million) annual wage.

Gavi is still not registered as a senior team player.

The 18-year-old is also under a Juvenile A contract, so if Barcelona do not sign him by the end of the season, he will be a free agent.

Chelsea have already spoken with the young players’ agents, and a second meeting has been scheduled. Although Xavi believes the Spanish midfielder will stay at the club despite the reports, (h/t Metro), as he said:

‘’I don’t think Gavi would be happy at another club. He has everything here. He is 18 years old. He’s a key player on our team. For me, he’s a footballer who is outstanding. I don’t know what he’ll decide, but I think his future is here at the club.’’

Xavi says Gavi is happy in Barcelona.

Despite the fact that he is content at the club, Chelsea should sign the midfielder if Barcelona are unable to register the youngster given his tremendous ability at only 18 years old. Xavi’s comments showcase how highly the Catalan giants value him and how much they will try to keep hold of him.

But Chelsea appear like a fantastic place for the midfielder, whose project relies on developing young players. He can be a brilliant partner for Enzo Fernandez in central midfield. There isn’t much Barcelona and Gavi can do with being content with each other if there are financial fair play problems.

We unquestionably need an assertive midfielder who can intimidate opponents with his dominance, and Gavi fits that description. He is a smooth operator who can wiggle his way out of tight spaces and play key passes. This move, if fulfilled, would be one of the coups of the century for the Blues.
