Both clubs could head-to-head for the appointment of Julian Nagelsmann as well. The German is out of a job now after getting sacked by Bayern Munich days before Conte was.
The Times reported that Chelsea’s co-sporting directors Paul Winstanley and Laurence Stewart had the first official talks with Nagelsmann on Thursday.
From the Blues’ viewpoint, it is an interesting time because the interim appointment of Lampard hasn’t worked out. The team has lost all three games under him and nothing has changed since Potter was given the hook.
The club needs to make the right decision regarding the next manager, failing to do so could have long-term ramifications given how much they have spent in the transfer market in the last two windows.
Enrique has the experience and know-how of winning big trophies and playing the big games with Barcelona and Spain. Is he tactically better than Nagelsmann? It is a tight one because the German is very good at his job and was unfairly sacked by Bayern.
