“What a shambles”- Todd Boehly slammed for sacking Thomas Tuchel at Chelsea last year

Todd Boehly gets slammed for creating shambles at Chelsea

TV broadcaster Richard Keys has slammed Chelsea co-owner Todd Boehly for creating a shambles at Stamford Bridge following the sacking of Graham Potter.

Keys admits that he wanted Potter to succeed at Chelsea, but Boehly made a mistake by sacking Thomas Tuchel in the first place back in September.

It has been a whirlwind season for negative reasons for the Blues. We have already seen two managers getting the sack amidst some crazy spending in the last two transfer windows.

Todd Boehly gets slammed by Richard Keys for creating a shambles at Chelsea.

Here’s Keys openly hammering Boehly for the mismanagement at the club (h/t Football.London):

“What a shambles the owner of Chelsea, Todd Boehly, has created at The Bridge. Potter’s sacking was inevitable and overdue. Sacking him isn’t a mistake – sacking Tuchel was.

“I really wanted Potter to succeed, but it’s been evident for weeks that he was out of his depth. This morning he’s got to be as relieved as he is rich. What other business rewards failure like football does? It’s madness.”

Whatever one may think of Potter, the situation around him was too unstable for his appointment to work. It felt like a wrong marriage from day one.

What all that has done is pushed the team back on any sort of confidence. As a result, they are in the bottom half of the league table and have only an outsider’s chance of beating Real Madrid in the quarter-final of the Champions League.

The search for a new manager continues, with talks going on. Julian Nagelsmann and Luis Enrique have been approached by the club. They are set to appoint Frank Lampard till the end of this season on an interim basis. The latter’s appointment will give the owners time to complete the process of hiring a permanent manager.

With only a handful of games left this season, unless something dramatic happens in the Champions League, it is time for everyone to look ahead rather than dwell on the present.
