Premier League boss uninterested in Chelsea offer as manager search continues

Roberto de Zerbi rejects Chelsea as search for the manager continues

According to Evening Standard, Brighton and Hove Albion manager Roberto de Zerbi is not interested in becoming the next Chelsea manager as the search for Graham Potter’s replacement continues.

Chelsea went down that route after sacking Thomas Tuchel in September when they appointed the then-Brighton boss Potter. Things did not go well for the latter and he is now out of the job at Stamford Bridge.

The Blues have been linked with a lot of names since Sunday, one of which is the current Seagulls boss de Zerbi. The Italian is not interested in the job though because he is committed to the south-coast club. The report also revealed that Chelsea are also not looking to make an offer to him.

Since taking over the Brighton job, the former Shakhtar Donetsk boss has done wonders for them. In fact, they have become the version of themselves compared to how they were under Potter.

But, it is sensible for Chelsea to not fall into the trap of hiring an overachieving manager from a mid-table club (with all due respect to Brighton).

Among the names linked, former Bayern Munich boss Julian Nagelsmann has become a prominent name for discussion. The club’s co-owners Todd Boehly and Behdad Eghbali are concerned by his age (35) though, which is foolish to say the least.

The owners have to make the right decision now with respect to the appointment of the next manager. Any mistake now and the cards might fall off by the start of next season.
