“Full of confidence” Chelsea star keen to replicate international form in Blue

Noni Madueke keen to carry his impressive international form to Chelsea

After a brilliant international performance in which he scored once and provided two assists in England U21’s 4-0 victory over France U21, Noni Madueke is keen on helping Chelsea finish the season on a high note.

Madueke entered the game in the 64th minute with England leading 2-1. The Three Lions began to play more efficiently and with more assurance in their attack and he was given the man-of-the-match award for his performance.

Although, after joining Chelsea from PSV Eindhoven during the January transfer window, Madueke has played in far fewer matches for the Blues. Surely he will get more opportunities in the months to come.

On February 3, he made his debut against Fulham. He then played against West Ham and Southampton. He has subsequently missed games against Tottenham Hotspur, Leicester City, and Everton, playing only 6 minutes of football in total.

The 21-year-old, nevertheless, is sure that his performance for England will persuade Graham Potter to give him more playing time.

Speaking to the Chelsea website, the former PSV player expressed his confidence and willingness to assist the team, as he said:

The international break is good, but it’s best to be back at Cobham preparing for what we are trying to do in the last part of the season.

“It’s always good to be with the national team. I enjoyed myself, got a couple of assists, and scored a goal, so I’m full of confidence coming back to Chelsea now to hopefully replicate that type of form.

When he featured against West Ham United and Southampton, Madueke undoubtedly displayed his great potential. He exhibited his knack for testing defenders and challenging goalkeepers with long shots. Against West Ham, he had several opportunities to score Chelsea’s first goal but was unfortunate on each occasion.

He has excellent qualities, and even if he can’t start the games, we can use him as a substitute to provide fresh legs in the attack. His success at the international level will undoubtedly convince Potter to give him more playing time and also improve his confidence.
