Mauricio Pochettino wants to have control over player scouting and hoping to bring Steve Hitchen to Chelsea

Mauricio Pochettino wants to bring Tottenham Hotspur scout Steve Hitchen to Chelsea to have control over the transfer business.

The Daily Mail reports that (h/t Metro) the former Spurs manager believes his former Tottenham colleague would be a handy addition to the Stamford Bridge backroom roster. Pochettino has made it obvious that he wants to have control over the players’ singing and is the clear frontrunner to be named Chelsea’s manager for the upcoming season.

Since joining Tottenham twenty years ago, Hitchen has been scouting the best players. He was then brought to Liverpool by his former Spurs director, Damien Comolli and helped the Reds land Luis Suarez. We all know how that move turned out.

Back at Tottenham, replaced Paul Mitchell and worked well with Pochettino, selecting players for the Argentine coach like Davinson Sanchez, Serge Aurier, Lucas Moura, Tanguy Ndombele, and Giovani Lo Celso among others.

But as of now, the Blues have added technical directors Christopher Vivell, Laurence Stewart, and Paul Winstanley to their staff. Surely we cannot have different visions in putting together a winning squad..

However, the Blues will need to free up some space in their overcrowded squad of over 30 players in order to sign new players. In addition to this, he will need to identify individuals who should stay and depart because Chelsea will be offloading a lot of players this summer.

Hitchen is renowned for his outstanding work as a scout for Liverpool and Tottenham. He made the brilliant decision to sign Suarez for Liverpool and the world-class Modric for Spurs.

And Hitchen’s scouting wasn’t all that impressive when Pochettino arrived at Spurs; he signed players like Davinson Sanchez, Serge Aurier, Lucas Moura, Tanguy Ndombele, and Giovani Lo Celso, but only Moura’s and Lo Celso’s signings were successful to a degree. But then everyone enjoys hits and misses.

More Chelsea News:

However, Todd Boehly should give Hitchen authority in the transfer market if Pochettino thinks his scouting can help the Blues find the right players for Chelsea. Because some of our signings were impulsive and gave the impression that we did not trust our scouts, we looked to see if other clubs were interested before making our own signings.
