Liverpool manager Jurgen Klopp outlines the lack of direction at Chelsea

Liverpool boss Jurgen Klopp admits he feels bad for Chelsea and berated the owners for bringing in too many players under Todd Boehly. With seven games remaining before the end of the season, the Blues are currently in 12th place in the Premier League.

Thomas Tuchel was fired at the start of the season, and Graham Potter was named the new manager. The team had a brief winning streak until Chelsea’s losing skid caused all hell to break loose.

Potter too received his marching orders before seeing the campaign out, with Frank Lampard handling the reins until the end of the season. However, under his management, the team have lost all five matches so far.

The West Londoners are currently searching for a permanent manager, with Mauricio Pochettino the overwhelming choice to take over the team ahead of the start of the 2023–2024 season.

The manager of Liverpool, however, criticised the owners and compared the circumstances to Liverpool. Journalist Simon Philips quoted his comments:

“I feel a bit for Chelsea, but it’s good to see you cannot just bring loads of top players and think it works out. You have to build a team. The guys there underestimated that and gave their coaches an impossible job to do. You cannot train on two training pitches; you cannot have two dressing rooms; you have to create relationships and team spirit. Chelsea will be fine next year and be incredibly strong, but just using them as an example at the highest level, you cannot do that, and we will not do that at Liverpool.”

Klopp has made this quite clear because he is aware of the pressure a manager faces, especially considering the struggles his team has had this season. Liverpool may be able to qualify for the Champions League next season, while Chelsea have performed poorly and is now in 12th place.

With his many acquisitions and inability to conduct effective training, Todd Boehly undoubtedly made Potter work extremely hard. The same is true of Lampard, and we haven’t won in five games.

More Chelsea News:

Since this campaign is already over, it will be up to the new manager to turn around the club’s situation in the coming season. Klopp knows a thing or two about building winning teams and Boehly will do well to take the German’s words to heart.
