Kalidou Koulibaly didn’t have to think twice when he was asked who is the worst-dressed player at Chelsea.
The Blues are in free fall with no wins in eight straight games. Frank Lampard has lost all five matches as the club’s caretaker boss as Chelsea languish in 12th.
But Koulibaly has still found time to give a fun interview with GOAL, where he was asked multiple questions about his teammate. One was to name Chelsea’s worst-dressed player.
The former Napoli centre-back instantly replied with the name of Marc Cucurella:
“The worst-dressed is someone who came before me, Cucurella. We have to improve everything, from the top to the [bottom], everything. He cannot dress.
“I don’t know how his wife is with him, maybe she’s the one that has to choose the clothes for him now [because] choosing on his own, he’s making a mess.”
Cucurella mostly posts pictures in his Chelsea attire on his Instagram account while his off-the-field photos don’t seem to have outfits that can be considered overly hideous. Perhaps Koulibaly sees something we don’t.
More importantly, both defenders have failed to impress during their stint at Chelsea. The Spanish left-back joined the Blues from Brighton & Hove Albion last summer for a mammoth 63million Pounds fee.
Koulibaly also signed for Chelsea during the same transfer window. With Marcos Alonso, Antonio Rudiger and Andreas Christensen moving to La Liga, there was hope that Cucurella and Koulibaly will strengthen our backline.
The 31-year-old Senegal international has been error-prone this season and so has Cucurella. He has failed to convince at both ends of the pitch and has failed to displace Ben Chilwell as our outright first-choice left-back. No matter what he wears off the pitch, what matters is how he performs for us when he wears the club’s colours.
