Injury News: Chelsea midfielder shares photo after underdoing surgery

Chelsea star Mason Mount underwent abdominal surgery to reduce the pain

Mason Mount posted a photo on Instagram after undergoing abdominal surgery for pain in his lower abdomen which the Chelsea midfielder had been suffering for a long time.

The 24-year-old’s stomach injury surfaced in March when he missed Chelsea’s match against Leeds United, which the Blues won 1-0 courtesy of a goal by Wesley Fofana.

Then manager Graham Potter asserted that Mount had an issue with his pubic bone in the lower abdomen. The England international continued to play in games before the discomfort got too bad and he opted to get surgery.

In the news conference following the game against Brentford, interim manager Frank Lampard announced that Mount will miss the rest of the campaign.

But after a successful surgery on Tuesday, (h/t Daily Mail), the midfielder posted a photo on Instagram with the caption:

“I had a minor procedure yesterday to sort out a discomfort I had for a while. Everything went well, and I’m feeling good. It’s time to rest, but I can’t wait to get back to training in the coming weeks! Thanks for all your messages of support, and a massive thank you to the medical team, doctors, and nurses for looking after me.”

The 24-year-old had a difficult year, and it’s possible that his lower abdominal issue prevented him from giving his best effort throughout the games. In addition, he received severe criticism from supporters, which caused him to delete his Twitter account.

Nonetheless, we will need him to be at his peak when the new manager is hired, so hopefully he will be totally healthy and rested for the upcoming season. Along with this, fans would hope he commits his future to the club for the foreseeable future. One can imagine that there will be more clarity on this when the new manager is hired.
