Chelsea to battle Crystal Palace for 18-year-old Gambian sensation

Chelsea in race with Crystal Palace for young Gambian striker Adama Bojang

Chelsea and Crystal Palace join the list of Premier League clubs that are interested in signing the young Gambian striker Adama Bojang.

Tottenham Hotspur and Nottingham Forest have shown interest in the 18-year-old, who starred for the Gambian U20s during the U20 edition of the AFCON in Egypt. He scored four goals and assisted one in six games in that competition. Gambia reached the final as well.

European clubs Ajax and Royal Antwerp are also interested in the services of the teenager. The former are famous for excellent scouting and developing young players into future superstars.

Bojang currently plays for his native club Steve Biko FC and is valued at around £650,000. The report reveals that the Premier League clubs are looking to sign him with the view to immediately sending him out on loan to gain valuable experience, possibly in the European circuit.

His physical attributes and playing style are synonymous with Victor Osimhen, who is at the moment the best striker in Europe. The latter is flying high in Napoli as they close on a Scudetto win.

Coming back to Bojang, comparisons with Osimhen must be a big thing for a young player. He is also nicknamed the ‘Gambian Hurricane’ owing to his rapid pace.

If we look at how Chelsea have operated under the new ownership, signing the 18-year-old wouldn’t be a surprise to us. They have focused on signing the best young players on long contracts before developing them here for the betterment of the senior team.

Although the Blues need to address other areas in the coming summer window, including potentially signing a striker, getting Bojang for the price tag quoted isn’t going to change the budget by much. Moreover, the Gambian is an excellent player with a high ceiling.
