Chelsea fans confront Todd Boehly during Brighton defeat

Chelsea fans made their feelings clear as they confront Todd Boehly after Brighton loss

Chelsea supporters were furious with the team’s latest setback, a 2-1 loss to Brighton Hove & Albion. A group of Blues supporters yelled at Todd Boehly from their seats above the director’s box.

The Blues suffered another humiliating loss,(h/t Daily Mail), making it four straight defeats in all competitions. However, before getting up from his chair, Boehly also gestured in response to the crowd shouting at him.

Conor Gallagher’s deflected shot gave Chelsea the lead after it found the back of the net in the 13th minute, but after that, it went downhill.

Brighton, who controlled the game the entire time, had a chance to equalise, but Kepa Kepa Arrizabalaga held firm between the goalposts.

However, Danny Welbeck’s header put the Seagulls ahead of the game with four minutes remaining in the half. Brighton were clearly the better team with 10 shots on goal to Chelsea’s two.

In addition, they controlled 58% of the possessions compared to Chelsea’s 42%. They had multiple opportunities to win, but they failed to take advantage of them. However, in the 69th minute, a long-range shot by Julio Enciso beat Kepa, which resulted in a decisive goal for the travelling side as they beat Chelsea 2-1.

Chelsea had a great chance to tie the score when Gallagher and Mason Mount combined with each other. However, Gallagher took too long to respond to Mount’s pass, and Chelsea ultimately lost.

Although they made a mistake by firing Thomas Tuchel in the beginning and even aggravated it by firing Graham Potter, protesting against the owners won’t make things easier, as the season is already close to being over.

Lampard isn’t the permanent answer anyway. He is a caretaker manager and it won’t make sense to fire him now. The only meaningful game right now for us is the UEFA Champions League second-leg against Real Madrid.

A victory against the Seagulls, though, may have served as a pick-me-up going into the second leg of the Champions League encounter at Stamford Bridge this week, but it wasn’t meant to be. We have a 2-0 margin to overturn. Brighton, make no mistake about it, annihilated us in every department.

If they can do that to us, one can imagine how ruthless Real Madrid will be if things don’t improve. It will be an interesting thought on what happens if we make it to the semis. Will we fire Lampard for the semifinals just so we can get in someone to win us the UCL title? Enraged fans today may have been open to it if they were asked this question.

But the positive PR an aggregate win against Real Madrid will do effectively means we will anyway be stuck with Lampard until the summer. It’s time we suck it and wait it out for a top manager to be appointed.
