Chelsea ace Mason Mount has been informed of two players who might prevent a summer transfer to Liverpool following the rumoured halt in contract talks at Stamford Bridge,
The England midfielder rejected a new contract, and talks are scheduled to continue at the season’s conclusion. He aspires to be paid in line with the club’s massive number of new players and to join their highest earners.
The 24-year-old has fewer than 18 months left on his current Chelsea contract (Transfermarkt), and there have been speculations that the club will want to sell him if a new agreement cannot be reached in the summer.
If Mount opts to depart his childhood club, he won’t be short on bidders; Liverpool are reportedly one of the clubs heading the chase for his services, with Newcastle and Manchester United also rumoured to be interested in the Chelsea player.
Tony Cascarino, the former Chelsea striker, believes that if Mount were to transfer to Merseyside, Mohamed Salah and Luis Diaz could stand in his way. Speaking to talkSPORT (h/t Express.UK), the analyst commented that Newcastle United might be a better fit and further added:
“It comes down to Mason and if he really just wants to stay at Chelsea and sit on his money and find himself in and out of a team, because that’s where he is now. Does that sit well with him? Probably not.”
Mount’s contract extension with Chelsea is turning into an issue and also we can’t let him leave for anything since it would be a terrible loss for us and as he is still young and bursting with potential.
We need to find a way to convince him to extend his contract with a considerable offer, or if we are unable to do so, we should set a price tag and consider selling him.
With Liverpool interested, and if he is willing to join them then he could be able to rekindle his form under Jurgen Klopp, who is eager to strengthen the Reds’ midfield because it has recently appeared directionless and been dominated by opponents.
And Cascarino’s opinion doesn’t make sense why Salah and Diaz would not want a player who would contribute to the team. However, it remains to be seen how his Chelsea contract situation plays out.
