Report: Out of favour Chelsea ace spotted celebrating with European rivals

Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang spotted in Barcelona dressing room amidst Chelsea uncertainty

Chelsea striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang was spotted in the dressing room of Barcelona after their 2-1 win over Real Madrid in El Clasico on Sunday (19 March).

As per transfer guru Fabrizio Romano on Twitter, the Gabon national is ‘almost out’ of the project at the Stamford Bridge side. The 33-year-old still has a good relationship with the players and the management at the Blaugrana.

In the previous transfer window, Aubameyang wanted to return to the Camp Nou side. However, a deal for the striker failed to materialise due to rules laid down by FIFA.

In the summer of 2022, the Gabonese joined the Blues from Barcelona. However, the 33-year-old has had a hard time making an impact at the West London club this season.

Aubameyang made a name for himself at Borussia Dortmund before thriving at Arsenal in the Premier League. However, towards the end of the forward’s time with the Gunners, he struggled under Mikel Arteta.

Subsequently, in January 2022, the Blaugrana acquired the Gabon national’s services. The 33-year-old found his feet at the La Liga outfit, scoring 13 goals in 24 appearances in all competitions for them.

However, it looks like Graham Potter does not have faith in Aubameyang. While he has not been able to find the back of the net consistently at Chelsea, since the turn of the year, the striker has hardly featured.

The Gabonese has been left out of our Champions League squad. In recent weeks, the 33-year-old has also not made the matchday squad on several occasions. He was not involved in our last two league matches.

It seems like Aubameyang’s time with the Blues will be short-lived. Considering the additions we made to the forward line in January, the 33-year-old evidently is surplus to requirements at the club.
