“I like him so much”- Chelsea’s Mykhaylo Mudryk opens up on relationship with Arsenal star

Mykhaylo Mudryk talks about how Oleksandr Zinchenko jokes about his move to Chelsea

Mykhaylo Mudryk discussed how Oleksandr Zinchenko taunts him as a result of his pricey transfer to Chelsea during the January transfer window. After almost joining Arsenal, the 22-year-old signed for Chelsea for £88 million at the last gasp in January.

The Gunners were in the lead in the battle to recruit the youngster and came close to doing so in January, although Chelsea hijacked their deal and signed the former Shakhtar Donetsk star.

The 22-year-old is yet to open his account for Chelsea, but has an assist and has recently struggled to earn a starting position under Graham Potter.

Reports: Chelsea keen on adding Oleksandr Zincheko to summer wishlist.

Moreover, Mudryk and Zinchenko, teammates, will play on Sunday at Wembley in a Euro 2024 qualifying match against England.

Both regularly take a dig at one another, and in one instance the former Arsenal left-back poked fun at Mudryk when he joined Chelsea. Speaking to Sky Sports, (h/t Express), Mudryk expressed his admiration for the former Manchester City left-back and said:

“He helped me a lot. I like him so much. We often joke about Arsenal, Chelsea, and what colour London is. But I like this guy; he’s very funny and very nice. We spend some time with him and are always in a good mood.”

It is very evident that the two share a close relationship due to their national allegiance rather than being divided by the color of the shirt they wear in London. They are full internationals for their country and are definitely two of their poster boys right now. The burden of taking the Ukrainian national team back to its glory days rests on their shoulders.

Both are among the best players in their positions in their age bracket. Zinchenko is spearheading Arsenal’s title charge while Mudryk is beginning to show his talent at the very top level.

Together with other young players, he will be a significant player for the Blues in the future.  And, once he adjusts to the Premier League, then we will see him in action more often. Hopefully, the friendship between Mudryk and Zinchenko is not seen on the pitch when the two teams face each other on 29 April at the Emirates.
