Brighton CEO Paul Barber confirms Chelsea star Moises Caicedo will get his chance to play for top clubs

Brighton Hove & Albion CEO Paul Barber said Moises Caicedo will have the opportunity to play for elite teams in Europe following interest from Chelsea and Arsenal.

Caicedo wanted to join Arsenal, and the Gunners made two offers that were turned down by Brighton in the January transfer window. The midfielder even announced his intentions of leaving the club on social media, but Brighton held firm and held onto their star man.

They also succeeded in persuading the 21-year-old to extend his contract despite Chelsea and Arsenal’s attempts to sign him. The Seagulls are aware that Premier League teams will want to sign him again in the summer despite his extension.

And their CEO, Barber, has made it seem as though the Ecuadorian international would undoubtedly get the chance to play for premier teams. He is aware that offers will undoubtedly arrive in the summer transfer window, as Chelsea are still interested in signing the midfielder.

Barber confirmed this while speaking to The Beautiful Game Podcast (h/t Metro), as he said:

“Selling Moises in January was not a good decision for us.

‘He was one of our best players at the beginning of the season, and we were in a great position in the league, still in the FA Cup, and there was a lot of football to play.

‘We are really happy that he has settled back down, and his chance will come in the future to become whatever he wants to be, and we are all very confident that will happen for him.”

The CEO of Brighton is aware that teams will continue to show interest in the midfielder since he has established himself as a promising young player. Arsenal and Chelsea have thus far expressed interest in signing the prodigy.

Both sides want a defensive midfielder since the Blues lack depth in that position. N’Golo Kante is the only player who can be counted on, but he has a history of injuries this year. More so, Dennis Zakaria will undoubtedly leave the team because he hasn’t left a lasting impression. Meanwhile at Arsenal Jorginho and Thomas Partey are the only defensive midfielders remaining.

More Chelsea News:

Caicedo is talented and is flourishing in the league, and his acquisition by any team will offer steadiness. But Because of their different situations, Arsenal and Chelsea’s present results may determine the midfielder’s move. But, if Chelsea plays the money game, then they could sign him. So, it remains to be seen how much price tag Seagulls will put on him.
