N’Golo Kante is looking to extend his Chelsea contract after positive talks with the club

Chelsea midfielder N’Golo Kante appeared to be nearing the end of his tenure at Stamford Bridge, as news of a contract extension went cold.

According to CBS Sports journalist Ben Jacobs, in comments exclusively given to the Si and Dan Talk (subscription required) Chelsea show (h/t Simon Philips on Twitter), for transcribing it:

“Talks with N’Golo Kante are positive. Chelsea really wants to keep him. Although plenty of interest in Kante from elsewhere, I can confirm there’s no truth Al-Nassr have already made him a lucrative offer. Kante’s priority is to stay in London and at Chelsea.”

Earlier, the French player was linked with Saudi club Al Nassr, and recently Atletico Madrid have shown interest in his services. If no agreement is reached with Chelsea, Kante could leave for free in the summer. (Transfermarkt).

The Blues were afraid they might lose him for nothing, but now that productive negotiations have started, the player may agree to stay put. This will help us retain an experienced head, making the transition to the new roster easily.

When fit, Kante is unquestionably one of the best midfielders in the world, and having him team up with Enzo Fernandez, another outstanding midfielder, is the icing on the cake. Quick movements, constant pressing, and the capacity to disengage attacks are what make Kante such a valuable asset.

Fernandez and Kante will bring so much balance to the midfield, which the Blues have lacked this season. Although the Argentine can also play as a deep-lying midfielder and will have more freedom to play further upfield once Kante recovers.

Fernandez can be deployed as an inventive midfielder since we need a creative midfielder, and Kante will sit deep and assist in recycling possession and ball distribution. All in all, it is a win-win for Chelsea.

The importance of the former Leicester player’s presence cannot be overstated, and we anticipate that he will sign a contract extension and be back on the field quickly.
