Graham Potter says his never-give-up attitude will guide Chelsea to the right path

Graham Potter was outspoken in his criticism, and he said that Chelsea will be able to turn things around because of his commitment. Nonetheless, the 47-year-old has sworn that he will use his perseverance and winning attitude to guide the team to success.

As the anger that accompanied the team’s struggles reach an alarming degree, the former Brighton manager started receiving death threats via anonymous email accounts.

Chelsea are currently 10th in the league after a run of two victories in their last 14 games, and Potter detailed how his mental health has been affected by the worsening connection with some Stamford Bridge fans. Along with being criticised, Potter has also come under fire for his lack of enthusiasm on the touchline and for disputing decisions with the referee.

Should Chelsea fans believe Potter’s vision?

Yet the former Brighton Hove & Albion manager insisted that he will stay unchanged and emphasised that his tenure at the Amex was his worst. Clearly the job got easier as the Seagulls consolidated themselves as Premier League regulars under his watch.

In a press conference, (h/t Daily Mail), Potter explained how he went through a lot of hardships before turning the Seagulls into a competitive team, saying:

“That particular time at Brighton, my first year, I was taking over the playing style and trying to change the squad.” Both my parents passed away. There were constant comparisons in the media with my predecessor.

“It was tough.” Then we had COVID. That was a really difficult period. It was my first time in the Premier League, and I had to prove myself.

Potter has received death threats from fans.

Potter deserves praise for forging his reputation at Brighton and for his role in the club’s promotion to the Premier League, which improved his standing around Europe.

We now hope he follows through at Chelsea, where perhaps circumstances will be different. The pressure is higher because Chelsea are a major club and usually competes in European competitions.

Also, since everything is new, Potter will need to be more judicious in his choices and playing style. Nonetheless, we genuinely believe that we will be the club’s leader because Todd Boehly’s appointment of Potter may have had a purpose.
