Chelsea yet to make any contract progress with Conor Gallagher, Mason Mount and Mateo Kovacic

Chelsea are yet to tie down midfield trio Conor Gallagher, Mason Mount, and Mateo Kovacic on new contracts at Stamford Bridge.

The Evening Standard claim that while Chelsea are interested in extending Thiago Silva’s deal, they are yet to make a breakthrough in contract talks with Mount, while Kovacic and Gallagher haven’t been contacted over a new contract.

According to reports, Todd Boehly is overseeing negotiations for Mason Mount’s seven-year contract, but there haven’t been any promising developments because the midfielder’s owner won’t agree to a budget.

Mount, a midfielder, has 18 months left on his contract and is hoping to increase his current £80,000 weekly salary, but it doesn’t seem realistic. In the meantime, Kovacic also left for 18 months, and the talks over Croatia’s contract renewal are yet to take place. (Transfermartk)

Given that Gallagher’s Chelsea contract expires in 2025, he has time to negotiate a new one (Transfermarkt). However, it has been claimed that Juventus might consider trading Kovacic and Denis Zakaria, which will see Zakaria joining Chelsea permanently and Kovacic leaving the club.

Furthermore, losing Mount could be troublesome because we lack attacking midfielders and Kovacic is still vital to the team. But Gallagher hasn’t exactly stood out.

Will Mason Mount leave Chelsea in the summer?

Although we have signed young players who will require time to acclimatise at the club, Kovacic and Mount consistently step up in crucial games and are important players for the team.

Chelsea should act immediately to renew their contracts. For Gallagher, he still has two-and-a-half years left on his contract and we would be wise not to hand him a raise unless he has shown that he really deserves it.

More Chelsea News:

We’re hoping for good news from the club since time is of the essence in such things and we don’t want to lose any of our key players to our rival clubs in the Premier League. Gallagher is the obvious exception here but we can’t leave his deal pending for too long as well, considering he can still get us some money in transfer fees if he fails to make it here.
