Chelsea are aiming to make one last lunge in the hopes of signing Moises Caicedo from Brighton Hove & Albion

Chelsea may decide to take one final shot at signing Moises Caicedo from Brighton Hove & Albion after maintaining positive talks to get Enzo Fernandez from Benfica.

According to the Guardian (via Sky Sports), Chelsea have not completely abandoned their interest in signing Caicedo despite the Seagulls rejecting their initial offer.

With Chelsea willing to meet Enzo Fernandez’s £115 million buyout clause, the club may also recruit another midfielder as they try one final time to bring in an Ecuadorian player before the January transfer window closes.

Chelsea are close in on Benfica midfielder Enzo Fernandez.

Despite having their £55 million offer turned down by Brighton, the Blues are hoping to make a new proposal that would persuade the Seagulls to trade the player. However, Brighton have been adamant about selling the 22-year-old midfielder despite their asking price of £90 million.

Caicedo also wanted a transfer from Brighton, as he wrote the Seagulls an open letter, which led to his exclusion from the squad for their 2-1 FA Cup victory over Liverpool.

The South American player is also familiar with Graham Potter’s coaching style, considering he played for Potter while he was Brighton’s head coach after the England coach acquired him from Independiente del Valle. If Chelsea are successful in securing the 22-year-old, Potter will land himself a player he is familiar with

Brighton midfielder Moises Caicedo.

If we are able to sign Caicedo, then it will be a huge bonus for us as Chelsea will be able to bring in two talented midfielders, which could sort out our problems in the middle of the park.

We have always struggled in the midfield, so the arrivals of Fernandez and Caicedo will be extremely helpful. The latter is a Premier League player, whereas the Argentine is already proven at the biggest stage of them all.

In order to avoid having to rush any acquisitions in the last hours, let’s hope these signings are finished before the deadline.
