According to reports, two possible candidates that Chelsea FC is most likely to sign in the upcoming transfer window are Dynamo Moscow’s Arsen Zakharyan and RB Leipzig’s Christopher Nkunku. Take a closer look at these two players right here.

Will Chelsea sign any new players in the January transfer window?

It appears new Chelsea manager Graham Potter and new Chelsea owner Toddy Boehly both have their eye on a couple of potential new players, and they are likely to sign them in the upcoming January transfer window. These two players include:

  • Arsen Zakharyan – this 19-year-old Russian player currently plays at club level for Dynamo Moscow in the Russian Premier League as the number 47. The naturally right-footed player also plays for his country, and his preferred position is in midfield.
  • Christoph Nkunku – this 25-year-old French player currently plays at club level for RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga as the number 18. The right-footed player also plays for his country, and he can play as a midfielder and forward

It looks as though Nkunku is more likely to arrive at the Blues before Zakharyan. However, there are very few details about the potential transfer at the time of writing.

How are Chelsea doing in the Premier League at the moment?

Chelsea are currently in eighth place in the Premier League behind Brighton, Liverpool, Man United, Tottenham, Newcastle, Manchester City, and league leaders Arsenal. They have played 14 games and have only managed to secure 21 points.

The Blues have won only 6 games, drawing 3 and losing 5, and they have scored 17 goals and let in the same amount. Those who expect better. They expect a potent attack and stingey defence. They expecte exciting football and a team that wins games.

On October 22nd, they drew 1-1 at home to Manchester United, and then in their fifth Champions League group game on October 25th, they travelled away and beat RB Leipzig 2-1. In their next Premier League outing, they lost 4-1 to Brighton, and then in their final Champions League group stage match, they beat Dinamo Zagreb 2-1 at home on November 2nd.

When they returned for Premier League action on November 6th, they lost 1-0 at home to Arsenal before losing 2-0 to current reigning Premier League champions Manchester City in the third round of the EFL Cup (Carabao Cup) on November 9th. In their final Premier League game before the world cup break, they lost 1-0 away to Newcastle.

How are Chelsea doing in the Champions League?

Things are currently looking much better for Chelsea in the Champions League. They won Group E with 13 points after 6 games, which put them above second place AC Milan, third place RB Salzburg, and bottom of the group Dinamo Zagreb, which means they have progressed to the final 16 knockout stages, and some say they have a good chance of winning.

If they can strengthen the squad by bringing in reinforcements such as Zakharyan and Nkunku, there’s a good chance they could win the Champions League and finish much higher in the Premier League.

At the time of writing at many of today’s most trusted sports betting websites, you will see that Chelsea are currently only the seventh odds-on favourites to win the Premier League, and they are also only the seventh odds-on favourite team to win the Champions League.
