According to Daily Mail, Everton are yet to hand their star goalie Jordan Pickford a new deal despite agreeing on one last month amidst interest from Chelsea.
The Blues are not the only club interested in the 28-year-old Pickford, with Manchester United and Tottenham Hotspur also said to be interested in signing the first-choice English goalie.
Pickford has experience in the Premier League. He has been Everton’s first choice in between the sticks ever since 2017 and although he has had his critics, he is a solid goalkeeper nevertheless.
Although the former Preston shot-stopper always looks like he has a mistake in him, he is extremely solid in between the sticks and often comes up with a performance that makes one’s jaw drop.
Ever since Graham Potter has become the Chelsea manager, he has chosen to use Spanish shot-stopper Kepa Arrizabalaga as his incumbent goalie. So, we still don’t know if he is looking at Pickford as a serious replacement.
The English international is also on the radar of both the Red Devils and the Lilywhites. Tottenham in particular are looking for a long-term replacement for French shot-stopper Hugo Lloris.
If Pickford has indeed agreed upon a new long-term contract with the Toffees, it is highly likely that the Merseyside club sign it off soon and all these transfer rumours will die down.
However, if the English international desires to play for a top club and compete in the Champions League, then he might push for a move away from Goodison Park to one of these clubs.
How keen Chelsea are on Pickford is not yet certain. To be fair, Kepa has been a revelation between the sticks for them and if he can continue being so, there is no reason why we cannot trust him to be our goalie for many years to come.
