Chelsea transfer target Alexis Vega is ready to leave Guadalajara

According to El Universal (h/t Football.London), Chelsea transfer target and Mexican international Alexis Vega has informed his current club Guadalajara that he wants to leave.

Along with the Blues, Premier League rivals, Wolverhampton Wanderers are also interested in the winger, who featured for the North American side in the World Cup.

The 25-year-old’s current contract with Guadalajara expires in the summer of 2024 (Transfermarkt), having joined them from another Mexican side Toluca in January 2019.

Vega is a right-footed winger who prefers to play on the left but can operate in any position across the forward line. In the first half of the Liga MX Apertura season, he scored three goals and assisted four in 17 appearances.

In terms of attributes, the Mexican winger possesses good pace to make runs in behind the defence and trouble them. He is great at dribbling in 1-v-1 situations while possessing passing and chance-finishing skills. He is someone whose game has grown in the last few months.

Even though the 25-year-old did not contribute in goals and assists for Mexico in the World Cup, he looked like a threat in the final third whenever on the ball.

A few days ago, Vega’s father, Ernesto, revealed that talks have begun with a few European clubs for a possible move in the upcoming transfer windows.

If Chelsea are in the race, he could be a good addition to the squad. With the future of Hakim Ziyech and Christian Pulisic all but decided of being away from Stamford Bridge, the Blues would be looking to fill the vacant slots in wide attacking areas.

More Chelsea News:

Although Vega may not be a fashionable name we are linked with, he is a decent player who has the potential and skills to do well under Graham Potter. One never knows, he could prove to be an inspired acquisition.
