Chelsea learn Benfica’s stance and the price tag of transfer target Goncalo Ramos

According to Correio da Manha (h/t Football.London), Chelsea have learnt the stance of Benfica and the price tag of transfer target Goncalo Ramos.

Following his impressive outing in the World Cup, Chelsea, along with Arsenal and Manchester United have growing interest in signing the Benfica marksman.

Ramos caught the eye of many during the last-16 tie against Switzerland, where he scored a hat-trick and looked menacing in and around the opposition box. He couldn’t repeat the feat against Morocco but showed signs of promise in that game too.

In response to the interest from Premier League clubs Benfica chief Rui Costa has ruled out a January move for the striker, unless clubs are willing to pay his release clause which is €120m.

The 21-year-old’s contract with the Portuguese club runs until the summer of 2026 (Transfermarkt). Even before the World Cup, he had an excellent season in the league with nine goals and three assists in 11 appearances.

Chelsea are in the market for a striker as the current crop isn’t doing well. They have been interested in the likes of Ivan Toney, and Jonathan David, while the links with Cristiano Ronaldo still somehow linger around the corner despite the latest on that front that the club is not interested in signing him.

If you think the transfer would go through, take a punt on which offers attractive benefits.

Ramos is an up-and-coming striker who possesses great pace, good physical strength in the opposition box, great finishing ability and works hard off the ball. His numbers for Benfica have been great in the last year or so.

But, the fee required for signing him in January looks a bit too much, isn’t it? So, if the Blues are interested in him, maybe they can wait till the summer and see how Benfica react to interest on him from several clubs around Europe.
